ASB and Harassment

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)

Anti-Social Behaviour can have a devastating impact on victims and impact on neighbouring households. ASB is not acceptable and Tamil Housing will investigate and take tenancy enforcement or legal action where this is necessary.

The following constitutes ASB:-

  • Harassment
  • Verbal or physical abuse
  • Racial abuse or hate crime
  • Criminal damage
  • Vandalism
  • Noise nuisance
  • Graffiti
  • Threatening or intimidating behaviour
  • Smoking or drinking alcohol under age
  • Selling drugs
  • Substance misuse
  • Litter and rubbish dumping
  • Nuisance driving

Tamil Housing will take practical action to deal with reports of ASB issues. Our early steps will include trying and dealing with the causes of ASB, including offering mediation where appropriate. Persistent anti-social behaviour may result in you losing your home.

If you wish to receive a copy of our ASB policy or procedure, please email service@tamilhousing.org.uk

Domestic Violence and Abuse

Domestic violence or abuse affects the physical and mental well being of not only an individual but also, their family members, including children.

Domestic abuse can take various forms, this may include:

  • Coercive control
  • Physical violence
  • Threatening behaviour
  • Swearing and shouting
  • Behaviour that humiliates or degrades the victim
  • Taking control of money
  • Stopping the victim from leaving the home

Domestic abuse (DA) can occur at any time during a relationship and tends to grow worse overtime and can become more frequent. DA can also happen in any kind of relationship, with people suffering regardless of their social group, class, age, race, disability, sexuality or lifestyle. Children are often silent victims; witnessing or being a victim of DA can seriously affect a child’s behaviour, health, school performance, development and long term future.

Potential triggers of domestic violence or abuse:-

  • Trying to leave a partner
  • Feeling alone and socially isolated if English is not their first language or has a disability stopping them from going out or talking to people
  • Misuse of drugs and/or alcohol
